AboutCode accepted to GSOC

By Erika Nunotani March 03, 2017

nexB is proud to announce Google has chosen AboutCode as a mentor organization for Google Summer of Code 2017!

This will be nexB's first solo participation in the Google Summer of Code program (GSoC). GSoC is a summer program that encourages student developers to work on and learn about open source development. Google sponsors select students to work on open source projects for three months. nexB is excited to work with the best and brightest students who are passionate about open source development.

Learn more about the growing community of users and contributors that make up the nexB team here! We have been mentors in previous years for Eclipse.org, strace and SPDX. We are also co-mentoring this year for SPDX.org.

AboutCode wants students!

AboutCode is a nexB top-level project that provides a framework for a set of tools to identify the origin, licensing and usage of software. Our goal is to welcome and nurture the FOSS skills of contributing students. Students who are interested should apply when the application process goes live on March 20, 2017. This is a great opportunity to get involved in the open source community and get hands on experience writing code while earning a stipend. Check out our GSoC 2017 AboutCode GitHub for project ideas and application details.

Support the open source community.
